Breath holding in order to create Brief Intermittent Hypoxia should NOT be practised in the case of any of the following:
- Severe/critical condition diseases or infections
- COPD-II and COPD-III
- Organ failure or late-stage terminal illness
- Cancer (unless your doctor gives you permission)
- If you have epilepsy, a pacemaker, or irregular heart beat (unless your doctor gives you permission).
- If you are pregnant
If you have any questions or concerns, it is best to ask your doctor, physician, or healthcare provider before taking part in extended breath holds. They have access to your medical history and they will be able to give you the best advice. You can then make a decision whether or not to practice holding your breath. We cannot make the decision for you.
